Here I sit, I start cut!

Amrita Varshini Vav

Vav- Step well

Project "Wall-EXPOSED!"

"The Major thought behind this project will be to investigate, how spatial morphologies, like landscapes, borders and scales, are re-ordered and re-imagined to materialize "development". It has unfolded in a dying industrial city, now being re-envisioned through neoliberal urban entrepreneurialism into a ‘global city’. The city wall has been annihilated through the various kinds of ravages that has happened throughout the decades. Through a combination of various factors with the 'urban renewal', landscapes were changed, new spaces produced, borders re-imagined, and new ones imprinted on the landscape, to segregate the communities. The administrative set-up creatively juxtaposed to alter the spatial morphologies of Ahmedabad.

This is not a study to investigate what could be the factors behind any annihilation, but to deliberate on what exists, and what belongs."

Identity Lost!!??

Walk around the Walled City

The gates as, they were and they are. Apparently some are not there in the location. Lost in time!
In due course, it is very natural that, the borders change. Scales differ. Re-odering of spaces; Re-imagining the vision happens.
Combination of various factors including the Urban Renewal schemes{!} result in destroying Landscapes, and produce new spaces. They imprint new ones. Segregate the existence and transform them.

This is an expedition towards the new spatial formation of the spaces around the "walled" city Ahmedabad- the fabrication and conformation of this expanse, at the expense of "Heritage" loaded wall, that stood the ravages for centuries...

The Walled City!
